Priming
While natural wood has its own charm, there’s something special about a bright red front door. If painting your door is a must, Wescon can prime it in advance.
It is possible to prime at home, but our facilities and personnel ensure that it is applied consistently across the entire door without runs or blotches. Whatever your choice, we strongly recommend that a primer be applied if you ever choose to paint a door. The reasons include:
  • The porous quality of wood absorbs the paint solvent, which results in premature drying.
  • Wood’s grain and texture are extremely prominent. Without a primer, it may take several layers of paint to properly obscure the underlying wood.
  • If the paint is thinly applied, it may still be water-permeable. This may cause warping, mildew, and rot. Primers promote, though do not completely guarantee, a waterproof door.
