Wescon makes all of its T-bars, astragals, and frames in house. By making things in house, it allows us to control the quality of every manufacturing step. We also make our components more "heavy duty" compared to the other guys, by utilizing better materials, and designing thicker, wider, and heavier parts.
The word "jamb" comes from the Italian "gamba", which means "leg." The word’s etymology is accurate – jamb is what a door literally stands upon.
At Wescon Doors, our jamb is constructed out of premium-quality solid wood. Jamb can be built for any size of door, standard or custom, and is available in many wood species. These include, but aren’t limited to:
- Hemlock
- Knotty Alder
- Red Oak
- Cherry
- Douglas Fir
- Knotty Pine
- Maple
- Primed
Besides offering support, jamb is the base for many deadbolts and fasteners: It is extremely important to have strong and well-built jamb to keep your home and family safe. But, beyond this, you can have fun with door jamb – try installing automatic light switches, painting it a bright colour, or carving your child’s height into it (it’s detachable, if you ever move!).
Jamb can be ordered in standard sizes, or also custom. You can choose the wood, width, thickness, length, and a 1-7/16”, 1-13/16”, 2-1/8”, or 2-5/8” Rebate to provide the perfect fit for your project at hand. See what we can do for you under the accessories tab, or
